December Events in Grand Junction

December is a terrific time to be living in Grand Junction as there is definitely not a shortage of fun activities and holiday events to mark on your calendars. Here are some of favorite December happenings.
On Saturday December 1st join the Grand Valley Winery Association as they celebrate the holiday season and proudly present Wine into Winter at the Grand Valley Winery Association Wineries. From 10:00am until 4”00pm enjoy some festive holiday food, wine pairings and a commemorative holiday ornament, recipes and discounts from the seven participating wineries. Tickets are $35 per person and are non-refundable. Guests must be 21 years and older to participate. Please visit Wine into Winter to purchase tickets.
Saturday the 1st bring your furry loved ones to Santa Paws is Coming to Town at the Grand Valley Kennel Club. Have their pictures taken with Santa and receive a CD with their pictures for $10.00. There is a limit of 4 pets per picture. This event is from 9:00am until 4:00pm.
The Avalon Theater is the place to be on Tuesday December 4th as David Archuleta brings his “Winter in the Air” tour to the Valley. David loves to bring happiness and the joy of the holidays to people through his music. He will be singing songs off of his latest album and a variety of Christmas covers and original songs he wrote. The show begins at 7:30pm and tickets range in price from $20.00 to $185.75 per person. To purchase tickets please visit Avalon Theater.
Friday the 7th feel the spirit of the holidays at the Spirit of Christmas Celebration on Main Street Grand Junction from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Shops will be open and there will be live entertainment and holiday refreshments served. The beautiful lit trees downtown is a beautiful sight to see and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus is a great way to cap off the festivities.
The much-anticipated Opening Day at Powderhorn Mountain Resort is on Thursday December 13th. To purchase season passes or lift tickets please visit Powderhorn Mountain Resort.
On Saturday the 15th lace up your tennis shoes and come on out for the Annual Santa Cause Run at Las Colinas Park Amphitheater. Race in the 5K run/walk or the 1K fun run. Proceeds from this event benefit Grand Valley area kids. The first 325 people to register will receive a Santa suit to wear during their race. The Robinson Theater is the place to be on Friday December 21st-Sunday December 23rd as Absolute Dance and Performing Arts Present the Nutcracker. This classic ballet will have a cast of 75 local performers, beautiful and dazzling costumes, stunning choreography and professional guests including Nicholas Patterson and Sayaka Ishibashi from the Orlando Ballet and the amazing magician Danny Baker.
