Front Door Inspiration

It’s springtime in Grand Junction!  Leaves are popping up on all the trees, the grass is getting green and we are seeing the colors of tulips and daffodils rather than the browns and grays of winter. This time of year may give you the itch to change things up.  Clean things out. Redecorate or remodel. Maybe change the look of the exterior of your home.  While a full paint job or front patio remodel may not be on your list, painting your front door can be a great way to freshen up your home for spring!  Not only can it dramatically change the look, it’s one of the least expensive outdoor makeovers! Plus, it's not as intimidating as the thought of committing to a color for the entire exterior of your home.  It’s an opportunity to play a bit. Maybe go a little bolder or trendier. If you don’t like it after a while, it’s an easy change. Here are some beautiful and fun front door ideas in every color of the rainbow!  At the end of this post, you will be running to the nearest paint store!

RED
There’s nothing quite like the bold color of red!  Red doors have a long history and if we want to get all Feng Shui, a red door means “welcome”.  In early American tradition a red door was an indication for tired travelers to come in for a night’s sleep or rest.  While that isn’t the case any longer, red is still a very welcoming color and a perfect choice for a front door. From bright cherry to a deep maroon you can find a shade that is appealing to you.

ORANGE
If you are going for more unique orange is the way to go!  Depending on the exterior color of your home orange can be a great compliment.   Think blues and grays and orange becomes a natural choice. While it may seem a little out there, orange can create an instant classic look...

YELLOW
We can’t think of a color that is more cheery and happy than yellow!  It’s a pop of color that simply makes people feel good! And, it’s good for you!  Yellow evokes clarity, perception and merriment to name a few…not bad things to have coming into your home!!  Yellow just may be our favorite.

The contrast of the yellow with the brick gives a fantastic vintage feel while still being modern.  Love it!


GREEN
Green is a very common color for the front door and for good reason.  It represents growth and renewal. Think about springtime…the grass turning green, leaves budding on the trees…everything feels fresh again.  A brand new coat of green on your front door can be an instant facelift to the exterior of your home.

BLUE
Oh, the shades you can choose from when going with blue!  There are soft light blues to ocean turquoise and everything in between!  Or, dark blue which is instantly calming and peaceful. Blue has often represented sky and water and going back to Feng Shui, is one of the greatest colors used in decoration.  It gives your curb appeal a feeling of abundance. Plus it really is simply a beautiful color!

PURPLE
Time to think outside of the box!!  If you are going to take a risk with the look of your home, go wild and paint your front door purple!!  If you’re leery, stick with a deep, wine tone and if you are looking for a statement go bright. Remember, you can always change it later but we think a purple front door could grow on you!!
